Best of the Week

  • Eric Bellinger & Hitmaka - 1(800)HIT-EAZY: Line 2 [album] One of the best things I saw these last 2 weeks since the release of the album was the outpour of love Eric Bellinger received. Considering that he is one of the greatest pens of our generation and doesn't have a single bad record in his long catalog, it's about time fans started really showing up in masses with his flowers. One of the things that makes this album a standout for me is the way in which Eric can ride a trap beat vocally and still make every song feel like an R&B love song. I often find that trap production easily drowns out vocalists and then the music starts to lean more towards hip-hop rather than maintaining elements of classic R&B that quite literally make the song R&B and not melodic rap, but Eric Bellinger is highly skilled in making sure his music stays true to the R&B sound we all love whether he's singing over acoustic guitar strumming or heavy 808s. Personal Picks: "Curious (feat. Fabolous)", "Obsession Remix (feat. Muni Long)", "BNB", "Sum 2 See (feat. Blxst)" & "IYKYK"

  • Coco Jones & Leon Thomas - "Until The End of Time" [single] CHEF'S FUCKING KISS. Thank you Spotify.

  • Isaia Huron - LIBBIE 02 [ep] Personal Picks: "Mary Ellen (02)", "Patient (02)", More (02)" & "Honeydew (02)"

  • Victoria Monét & Bryson Tiller - "We Might Even Be Falling In Love" [single]

  • Beyoncé - "Cuff It Wetter Remix" [single]

  • Raury - "Down" [single]

  • Kelela - Raven [album] Personal Picks: "On The Run", Happy Ending", "Closure (feat. Rahrah Gabor)" & "Bruises"

  • Saint Harison & Tiana Major9 - "homies" [single] We finally got new music from Saint! *screams internally* You may recognize him from his viral tik-tok or instagram videos, but his vocal ability is extremely impressive. For those of you who are fans for Jazmine Sullivan and Yebba, this one's definitely for you. There's something in that UK water because these UK R&B artists have their foots on our necks.

  • Sophia Galaté - "Options" [single]

  • Enchanting - Luv Scarred / No Luv (Deluxe) [album] Personal Picks: "Needy", "Heaux Things (feat. Baby Tate)", "Tell Me Why", "Shoulda Known (feat. Seddy Hendrinx)", "LA LA" & "What I Want (feat. Jacquees)"

  • October London - The Rebirth of Marvin [album] Personal Picks: "Back to your Place", "You Look Better", "Midnight Love Affair", "Make Me Wanna", "Mulholland Drive" & "Lover's Interlude"

  • Mario & Ty Dolla $ign - "Used To Me" [single]

  • serpentwithfeet - "Gonna Go" [single]

  • Zae France & Fridayy - "What It Do" [single]

  • Fridayy - Lost In Melody (Deluxe) [album] Personal Picks: "M.O.Y.L.", "Know The Truth", "Shoot (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)" & "Been Working"

  • Maeta - "S(EX)" [single] I pulled up Maeta earlier this week to hear her upcoming music, and let me tell ya'll... I don't know why I'm so late on her, but this girl has PIPES. The amount of talent I witnessed was incredible and I'm looking forward to her upcoming releases all of 2023. Add her into your mix of artists to watch this year.
